Survey on the Impact of United States Tariffs on the Metals and Engineering Sector

Dear SEIFSA Member

On 7 July 2025, the United States announced its intention to impose a 30% import tariff on South African exports, effective 1 August 2025. This development has raised significant concern, particularly given that the United States accounts for approximately 8% of the output from South Africa’s Metals and Engineering Sector.

At the special SEIFSA Council meeting held on the 22^nd of July 2025 the SEIFSA office indicated that we would be sending out a survey to member companies to gather critical information on the impact of this development on the sector. The information gathered will support SEIFSA’s engagement in developing a coordinated and evidence-based response to this challenge.

This survey contains 7 questions (mostly drop-down list questions) and should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
